This coming April, don Quijote will be opening a new school in Guanajuato following the innovative launch in
2001 of our Latin American program. don Quijote Guanajuato will be fully compatible with the other don Quijote
schools in Spain in the area of courses, didactical method, range of accommodation, services... allowing you
to combine a variety of locations. Naturally, the new school will be located in the city centre as well,
and you can be assured of the usual don Quijote style and quality.
Guanajuato is the ideal place in Mexico for studying spanish. A quiet, small university city (comparable
with Granada and Salamanca in Spain), away from the tourist resorts. Declared as UNESCO Human Heritage Site,
you will be overwhelmed by architecture and culture. An international airport at less than half hour away,
makes the city well connected with all other cities in Mexico and the rest of the world. With regard to
safety please do not worry at all; Guanajuato is 100% secure!

Reasons for studying spanish in Guanajuato (Mexico):
The city
- Population: ca 95.000
- Guanajuato City is the Capital of the State of Guanajuato and is one of the most important historical and cultural colonial cities of Mexico.
- Guanajuato State is located in central area of Mexico, to the south of the Mexican high plateau.
- UNESCO declared Guanajuato and the surrounding silver mines a "World Heritage Zone" in 1988.
- The state has an international airport, 32 kilometers from the city center.
Cultural/Recreational:
- While remaining a small provincial city, Guanajuato boasts a great number of attractions, from beautiful colonial buildings to modern museums, from silver mines to the university.
- Guanajuato dazzles the visitor with the charm of its relaxed atmosphere, its cobblestone streets and its picturesque squares.
- The Internacional Cervantino Festival, or FIC, is a very important and famous festival full of culture, music, theatre and dance. It is held every year on the first two weeks of October and draws artists and tourists from around the world.
- The famous Underground Street, formally known as Miguel Hidalgo Street has an incredible charm. It follows the bed of the old Guanajuato river, running beneath the city for almost 3 kilometers.
- Almost all the state of Guanajuato has a pleasant climate with temperatures from 12º C. minimum to 24º C. maximum.
Critical comment:
- In Mexico, the language is a little bit different than in Spain. Mexicans have their own expressions and a different accent. In don Quijote, students will be taught the purest Castilian.
